Utah Valley: We hear that Kenny DeWeese has been hired as the lead assistant at Utah Valley University.  DeWeese comes from Mary Hardin-Baylor where he served as an assistant to his father Ken for the past 4 seasons.

Springfield Armor (D-League):  Dee Brown is the new head coach of the Armor and he has hired Kevin Whitted as an assistant.

New York Liberty: Head coach Pay Coyle has been relieved of his responsibilities and Anne Donovan has been promoted to head coach.  The Liberty is currently 6-11.

Dickinson St.:  We hear that Andre Goldberg has been named the interim head coach at Dickinson.

Utah Valley University:  Head coach Cathy Nixon has hired Liz Darger.  Darger was the head girls coach and AD at Timpanogos HS in Utah.

McPherson College:  Shelly Prescott, head coach at McPherson, has hired Carley Chapman as an assistant.  Chapman is a 2008 graduate of Central Christian College and coached at the high school level this past season.

Santa Cruz, CA:  Bill Domhoff is the new boys coach at Santa Cruz High.

Uniontown, PA:  Boys coach Marshall Biddington is no longer part of the Geibel program.  AD Rick Watkins says they will post the job.

Cleveland, OH:  Highland high school has hired Cassie Seth as the new girls coach.

Madison, WI:  Boyce Hodge, boys coach, has resigned from Madison West amid a set of strange of circumstances regarding his use of ineligible players last season.

Arizona St.:  We hear Herb Sendek is being extended through June 2014.  His salary is expected to be $1.1 million next season and he also has a retention bonus of $600k if he stays through the end of the contract.

Lincoln University:  We hear that former UNC Wilmington assistant John Redmond has been hired as Lincoln’s head coach.

Rio Grande Valley Vipers (D-League):  A couple of sources have told us to expect Dave Leitao (former UVA head coach) to be named the head coach of the RGV Vipers.

Holland, MI:  Kyle Lawton, Black River’s AD, will also coach the boys basketball team this season.

Seattle University: Sources tell BasketballScoop that Seattle will soon announce Joan Bonvicini as the new head coach.  Bonvicini was the head coach at Arizona for over a decade ending after the 2008 season.  This will be Seattle’s first season playing a full Div. 1 schedule.

Wisconsin-Superior:  Assistant Logan Flora has been named Interim head coach.

Valdosta St.:  Assistant Nick Gast has been promoted to associate head coach.  The Blazers are 42-19 in the two seasons that Gast has been on staff and head coach Mike Helfer says the promotion is well deserved for Gast who Helfer says is, “one of the top assistants is all of Division II.”

Texas A&M International: We hear the two finalists for the head coaching position at A&M International are Shane Rinner (Associate HC at Alaska-Anchorage) and Tim Cleary (assistant at Boise State).

North Dakota:  UND head coach Gene Roebuck has added former UND All-American Kristi Boese to his staff, replacing Megan Kelling who has resigned.

Newberry College:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that John LeSaine has been hired as an assistant.  LeSaine is a Newberry grad and has been serving as a Grad Assistant at Valdosta St. for the past two seasons.

Wheeling Jesuit University:  Katie Hine has been hired as the head coach at Wheeling Jesuit.  Kine has served as an assistant for two seasons and is taking over for coach Joe Key who will continue to help coach in a part-time capacity.

Southwestern Oklahoma:  Head coach Kelsi Bond has hired Cophie Moore as her lead assistant.  Moore played four years at Fresno St. while Bond was an assistant there.  Moore has been working as a personal trainer.

Edgewood College:  Casey Thousand has been named the new head coach of the Eagles.  Thousand has spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Carthage College.

Dade City, FL:  Pasco’s boys coach Derek Heard is stepping down due to personal reasons.

Pittsburgh, PA:  Matt Gourley has been promoted to head boys coach at Apollo-Ridge.

Arkansas Tech: Stephen F. Austin assistant Doug Karleskint has accepted an assistant spot on Mark Downey’s staff at Arkansas Tech.  Karleskint will be the filling the spot that became open with Kurt Young took an assistant position at Northern Kentucky.

Portland St.:  Head coach Sherri Murrell has hired Kate Benz as an assistant.  This will be the first coaching job for Benz who played at Washington St. and is from Portland.

South Florida:  Andy Alwood has been hired as Dir. of Basketball Operations at USF.  Alwood has worked with the program for a few years and has been coaching at the high school level.

Hilbert:  Matt Phifer has been named the new head coach at Hilbert College.  Phifer had been an assistant at Genesee Community College.

Connors St. College:  We hear that Eddie Kite has hired former WNBA player Claire Coggins as an assistant.

Cincinnati, OH:  Notre Dame Academy’s girls coach Cheryl Darpel has stepped down to spend more time with her five children.

Indianapolis, IN:  Todd Grace has been hired as the boys coach at Marion, replacing Joe Luce who took the job at Richmond.  Grace had been the coach at Manual.

Ball State:  After her first season as the head coach, Kelly Packard has been given a two year extension through 2015.

Navy:  Head coach Stefanie Pemper has hired Jenerrie Everette and Maria Noucas as assistants.  Everette has been an assistant at Wright St. for the past 3 seasons.  Noucas played at Bowdoin under then head coach Pemper and graduated just a few months ago.  This will be her first coaching job.

Olympic College (WA):  We hear Olympic is looking for a new head coach as Paul Felker has resigned.

Fordham:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Fordham head coach Cathy Andruzzi has hired Margaret Carey as an assistant.  Carey was an assistant and Mount St. Mary’s University this past season and was the head coach at Catholic University for a few years before that.

Kentucky Wesleyan:  James Jackson, a member of the Louisville staff for the past two seasons, has been named an assistant at Kentucky Wesleyan.

Morehead St.:  DBO Joel Zimmerman has been promoted to an assistant by head coach Donnie Tyndall.  Zimmerman is taking the spot of Joel VanMeter who resigned to accept a teaching position in Alabama.

Maine:  Head coach Ted Woodward has rehired Doug Leichner as his top assistant.  Leichner had been on staff at Maine from 04-08.  This past season he served as the head coach of an Irish team.

Wisconsin Platteville: New head coach Jeff Gard has hired Sharif Chambliss and Brad Stangel as assistants.  Chambliss has been an assistant at UW-Milwaukee and at Francis Marion.  Stangel most recently served as a Grad Assistant at Edgewood College.

McPherson College:  Edward Newton, the interim head coach at LeMoyne-Owen, has accepted an assistant position at McPherson under head coach Tim Swartzendruber.

Le Moyne College: Rich Conover has been hired as the new head coach at Le Moyne after five seasons as the head coach at Binghampton.

Hofstra: We hear that Jessica Mannetti has been hired as an assistant at Hofstra.  Mannetti is well known in AAU circles and coached at the high school level this past season.

South Florida:  DBO Tommy Tonelli is going back to Wharton High School where he coached for 10 years prior to joining the USF staff two seasons ago.

Menlo College: Matt Davis has been promoted to head coach, replacing his former boss Brandon Laird who accepted an assistant position at UC Davis.

Texas A&M International:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that A&M International has selected Shane Rinner as their new head coach.  Rinner comes down from the University of Alaska Anchorage where he has been the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for six seasons.

SMU: Sources tell BasketballScoop that SMU head coach Rhonda Rompola has hired Danny Hughes as an assistant.  Hughes was on the staff at St. John’s this past season and was at Houston for three years before that including a stint as interim head coach.

New York Liberty:  Anne Donovan has hired Laurie Byrd as an interim assistant coach.

Eastern New Mexico:  We hear that Stott Carter has been added to the staff at Eastern as head coach Andrew Helton’s lead assistant.  The two worked together at A&M Corpus Christi.

Newberry:  Head coach Steve DeMeo has hired Kyle Steinway as an assistant.  Steinway is a Providence grad and has worked as part of the staff at Providence twice.  He worked in private business this past year.

Northern Iowa: Head coach Ben Jacobson, the conference coach of the year, is getting a raise and an extension.  The new seven year deal, which really is a two year extension, raises his expected annual compensation to $290k from $160k.  The AD says the additional money is coming from outside funds raised to keep him.

Central Michigan:  Head coach Ernie Zeigler has announced some moves.  First, he has promoted DBO Terrance Chatman to an assistant.  Marcelo Olivarez, the team’s head manager, will assume the DBO role.  Finally, Lonnie Griffin has been hired to fill the newly created position of Video Coordinator.  Griffin comes from Alma College.

Vanderbilt:  ESPN’s Andy Katz wrote an article yesterday about Vandy head coach Kevin Stallings paying for his team to travel to Australia this Summer.  It’s a good story.  Link…

Blinn College:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Blinn College head coach Steve Spurlin has decided to resign.  This was Spurlin’s 11th season at the helm.

Plant City, FL:  Durant’s boys coach Jeff Shotwell has decided to step back from the game to spend more time with his family.  We hear that Trent Tice, his assistant, will be promoted.

Phoenix, AZ:  Luke Neibling will be the new head coach at Arcadia, replacing Scott Lovely who took the boys job at Gilbert Highland.

St. Petersburg, FL:  Randolf Macon Academy head coach Sylvio Brutus is coming back to the school he played for as the head boys coach at Admiral Farragut Academy.

Staten Island, NY: New Dorp High has hired Pat Hopkins as boys coach.  He had been working with the girls teams at the school.

Florida St.:  Head coach Leonard Hamilton has signed a new five year contract paying him $1.5 Million per year, with incentives that could push it up to $2 M.

Texas St.:  Eric Brand has been hired as an assistant.  Last season Brand was an assistant at Tyler Junior College.

Jacksonville College (TX):  Head coach Cinco Boone has hired Phillipe Lilavois as an assistant.  Lilavois comes from Texas Tech where he recently graduated from and has been working with the team there for the past few seasons in various Operational and Player Development roles.

Utah Flash (D-League):  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Brad Jones will return as head coach of the Flash; however assistant Dale Osbourne will not.  We hear he has accepted a position with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Towson:  Pat Kennedy has promoted Jim Meil to Associate Head Coach.

Baylor:  Tim Maloney has been hired as Director of Basketball Operations.  Maloney served as associate head coach to Travis Ford at UMASS from 05-08.  Paul Mills has been promoted from Coordinator of Basketball Operations to an assistant coach and Dwon Clifton will move up to Coordinator of Ops after serving as Director of Player Development last season.

Kansas:  Head coach Bonnie Henrickson has signed a three year extension keeping her is Lawrence through the 2013-2014 season.  Her total comp is approximately $635,000 per year.

Tennessee Tech:  We hear there could be an announcement early next week regarding the open head coaching position at TTU.  The finalists are Jenny Palmateer (former NC State assistant), Sytia Messer (GA Tech associate head coach) and Tony Cross (Belmont head coach).

Tallahassee, FL:  Jay Hipps has been named the boys coach at Lincoln high.  Hipps has been the head coach at Wakulla high for the last three seasons.

New Canaan, CT:  New Canaan High has a new girls coach in Kim Palmer who is taking over for her former boss Brett Gillan who has stepped down to spend more time with his family.

Graceville, FL:  Graceville High has hired Thomas Register as their boys coach.  Register has been an assistant at Gulf Coast for the past two seasons.

Des Moines, IA:  Brad Johnson has  been named Interim Head Coach of the girls team at Southeast Polk.

Xavier (New Orleans):  Xavier head coach Dannton Jackson has hired Alfred Williams as an assistant.  Williams is a 2008 graduate of Xavier and worked with his brother Eric in North Carolina this past year.

Roosevelt University (Chicago):  Joe Griffin has been hired as the new head coach at Roosevelt which will begin competing in the NAIA in 2010-2011.  Griffin was at Eastern New Mexico this past season and was a Graduate Assistant at Michigan St. prior to that.

Wagner:  Head coach Mike Deane has named Dedrick Dye as an assistant.  Dye played at Wagner and was named Academic All American in the 2002-2003 season (his senior year).

Louisiana Tech:  We are told that Tech has added Mark Berokoff in an administrative role.

Georgia Southwestern:  Stephen Cox has been added as an assistant.  Last season he served as an assistant at Savannah St.

University of the District of Columbia:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Jeff Ruland, former Philadelphia 76ers assistant, is set to be named the head coach at the University of the District of Columbia.  Ruland was not retained by new head coach Eddie Jordan.

Montevallo: Ryan Powell has been named an assistant at the University of Montevallo.  Powell was a Grad Assistant at Alabama this past season.

Altoona, PA:  Paul Hasson has been hired as the new boys coach at Altoona Area High School. Hasson has previously served as the head coach both at Tyrone and at Bishop Guilfoyle.

Rutgers:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Rutgers will announce Sal Mentesana as an assistant coach possibly as early as this week.  More on this as this becomes public.

Georgia Tech:  We are hearing that ECU assistant Darryl LaBarrie will wind up back at Georgia Tech.  LaBarrie graduated from GA Tech in 2001.  Coach Hewitt is filling the slot that became open with Charlton Young accepted the head coaching position at Georgia Southern.

SUNY Cobleskill:  Head coach Matt Allen has hired Deonta McChester as an assistant.  McChester spent this past season as the Director of Operations at Winston Salem State.

Coast Guard Academy:  Kevin Jaskiewicz has been named Interim head coach at the Academy, replacing Pete Barry who has retired after 19 years.  Jaskiewicz has been an assistant at the CGA for the past three seasons.

Tennessee Martin:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that new head coach Jason James has hired Cornelius Jackson as an assistant.  Jackson has been an assistant at West Virginia State for the past 5 years or so.

Middle Tennessee:  Mike Scutero has been hired as the DBO at MTSU.  Scutero was the lead assistant at Odessa College for the past five seasons.

Illinois St.:  Head coach Tim Jankovich has hired Brendan Reilly in an administrative capacity.  The two worked together at Kansas, where Reilly has been for the past four seasons.

Wells College: Sources tell BasketballScoop that Brent Ferko has been named an assistant at Wells under head coach Joe Wojtylko.  This past season Ferko was an assistant at Susquehanna University.

Franklin & Marshall College (PA):  Head coach Glenn Robinson has added Brian Murphy to his staff as an assistant and has promoted Christopher McMonagle to a full time assistant as well.  Murphy was the head coach at Morrisville St.

Mandan, ND:  After winning 9 state titles, Greg Amundson has decided to make a move from Mandan.  His assistant Marv Pederson will take over the girls team as head coach.  Amundson is moving to Minnesota.

Maysville, KY:  Andy Arn is the new boys coach and AD at St. Patricks.  He comes from St. Michael’s in Ripley.

McAlester, OK:  Former WNBA player Crystal Robinson has been hired as the girls coach at McAlester High.

Clackamas, OR:  Ken Trapp has been hired as the new girls coach at Clackamas HS.

Jackson St.:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that JSU has hired Julian Springer as Director of Basketball Operations and has promoted Wright Bushing to an assistant.  Springer was an assistant at Alma College the past two seasons.

Wheaton College:  New head coach Mike Schauer has brought back Nate Frank as a part-time assistant.  Frank, who had been on staff from 06-09, left the team in May seeking to spend more time with his business.  Schauer, who both played with and coached with Frank, has convinced him to come back part-time.

East Stroudsburg:  Head coach Juliene Simpson has announced her resignation.  During her seven seasons leading the Warriors, she was twice named conference Coach of the Year (05-06 & 06-07).  The University says a “national search” has begun.

Rider University:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that head coach Lynn Milligan has promoted Pam Durkin to Associate head coach.

WNBA:  Nolan Richardson is making it fairly well known that he is interviewing with a group of Oklahoma City businessmen who are exploring the idea of creating a WNBA expansion team to play in Tulsa.

Arizona:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Arizona head coach Sean Miller has offered a Grad Assistant spot to Luke Murray.  Murray, the son of comedian Bill Murray, was an assistant at Post University this past season.

John Jay College (NY):  DeVernie Winston has been named head coach at John Jay.  Winston, a former assistant at John Jay, was the head coach this past season at the Borough of Manhattan Community College.

Norfolk St.: Interim head coach Debra Clark has made some hires for her staff.  Lashondra Dixon-Gordon and Kenny Edwards both are joining the staff as assistants.  Dixon-Gordon has been an assistant at Hampton for the past five seasons and Edwards was an assistant at Virginia Wesleyan last season.

Newberry College:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Jimmy Link will serve as an assistant to Steve DeMeo this season.  Last week Link was announced as the head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country teams at Newberry.  Link has been coaching at Flagler for the past few seasons.

Savannah, GA:  Bethesda Day has a new head coach.  Clevan Thompson has been promoted to head boys coach after Mickey Minick resigned for “family reasons”.

Duncan Falls, OH:  Terry Kelley has been named the girls coach at Philo.  He replaces Dick Haines who died in a motorcycle accident earlier this Summer.

Holy Cross:  New head coach Sean Kearney has hired Sean Ryan as an assistant.  Ryan has been an assistant at Boston University for the past two seasons.

Penn St. Mont Alto:  Marc Fry, an assistant, has been promoted to head coach, after Marty Ogle decided he could no longer coach and serve as the AD and be effective at both.

Odessa College: Zack Janus has been hired as the top assistant at Odessa after spending one season as an assistant at UT-Martin.

Holy Family:  Head coach Mark Miller has announced his staff.  Joining him will be Nikki Flores, Rachel Johnson and Bethann Castone.  Flores was an assistant working with Miller at Norwich this past season.  Johnson was an assistant at UT-Permian Basin this past season and Castone previously served as an assistant at Penn.

Southern Miss:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Jake Nayreau is expected to be added to the staff at Southern Miss.  Nayreau has been on the staff at Stephen F. Austin for the past two seasons.

Columbus St.:  Fala Suiaunoa has been added to the staff as an assistant.  Suiaunoa had been an assistant at Midwestern St. since 2007.

South Dakota St.:  Head coach Aaron Johnston has filled out his staff.  Emilee Gusso and Chad Oletzke have been hired as assistants and Deb Remmerde has been hired as a Grad Assistant.  Gusso was an assistant at Drake the past three seasons.  Oletzke was the head coach at Northwest College in Wyoming the past five seasons and this will be the first coaching position for Remmerde.

Indiana:  Ed Schilling has been hired as the boys coach at Park Tudor.  Schilling is a former college head coach and has held multiple assistant coaching positions in the NBA.

New Britain, CT:  We hear that Karen Brynes of New Britain High has resigned as girls coach.

Hamilton, OH:  Lakota East’s girls coach Todd Benzinger has resigned.

South Florida:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Andy Hipsher has been added to the staff at USF as Director of Basketball Operations.  Hipsher was an assistant at Western Michigan the last two seasons.

Georgia Tech:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Octavia Blue is likely to accept an assistant position at Georgia Tech.  Blue, the former two time all-american, coached at St. John’s this past season.

Duquesne:  Head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio has agreed to an extension through the 2013-2014 season.

Louisiana Monroe:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that ULM has added Amber Magner as an assistant.

Florida Gulf Coast University:  Head coach Karl Smesko has hired Bob Bolton as an assistant and has promoted Kate Schrader to an assistant as well.  Bolton was the head coach at Lamuth University last season and Schrader was a Grad Assistant at FGCU.

Maine Red Claws (D-League):  The new Boston Celtics’ D-League team, the Maine Red Claws, have made a great hire, adding Randy Livingston as an assistant.  With Danny Ainge’s son as the head coach, the Celtics knew they needed to get an experienced leader, who knows the game as well as anybody, and they appear to have gotten the best guy for the job in Livingston.

Cornell College:  Chad Murray has been hired as the new head coach at Cornell College (IA).  Murray had been an assistant at North Central College for the past five seasons.

Georgia Southwestern: Sources tell BasketballScoop that Stephen Cox has been hired as an assistant at Southwestern.  Cox has been an assistant at Savannah St.

South Dakota St.:  Head coach Scott Nagy has promoted Grad Assistant Brian Cooley to an Assistant.

Alaska Anchorage: Former Montana St. assistant Ryan Orton has been hired as an assistant at UAA.

Northern Arizona:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that NAU has hired Quintin Grogan as an assistant.  This past season Grogan was an assistant at Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Cerritos College (CA):  Russ May has been named the head coach at Cerritos.

Florida: We hear that Christopher Snyder has been hired as boys coach at Chamberlain.  Snyder was an assistant at Bradenton Manatee.

Ayden, NC: John Moye has been named the boys coach at Ayden-Grifton.

Orlando, FL: Steve Kohn, once again, is the head coach at Lake Howell.  He and former head coach Jeff Sloey will trade roles, with Sloey becoming an assistant to Kohn.

Georgia Tech:  We are hearing that head coach MaChelle Joseph is also promoting Teri Moren to Associate head coach as she juggles her staff after Sytia Messer left to take the head job at Tennessee Tech.

Glendale Community College:  Timi Brown, former Mesa St. head coach, is the new head coach at Glendale.
