Army:  We hear that Army has guys on Campus today and next week as well.  We’ll let you know more as we get some clarity.

Southwest Minnesota St.:  Head coach Greg Stemen has resigned the school has named Associate head coach Brad Bigler as the interim head coach.

Binghamton:  AD Joel Thirer has resigned and there is a lot of speculation that head coach Kevin Broadus might not make it.

Independence Community College: Head coach Patrick Nee has hired Stanley Billings as an assistant.  Nee coached Billings from 04-06 and then Billings went on to finish his collegiate career at Central Florida.

East Georgia:  Neil Bailey has been hired as the program’s first head coach.  Bailey has been the head coach at Middlesex High School in VA.

Bowling Green:  Head coach Louis Orr has received an extension through the 2013-2014 season.  Orr was the MAC Coach of the Year this past season.

Lambuth:  Tony Hill has been named the new head coach at Lambuth.  Hill formerly was the head coach at Rose-Hulman in Indiana and also served in the same capacity at Lincoln Trail College earlier this decade.

American International: We hear that Travis Hyland has been hired as an assistant at AIC.  Hyland, who worked for the New Jersey Nets for over a decade (primarily in various video capacities), has been serving as a scout for the past few years.

Memphis: Melissa McFerrin has hired Annie Isler as Video Coordinator.  Isler finished her playing career at Carleton College this year.

Sam Houston: Sources tell BasketballScoop that Leslie Reinecker has been hired as an assistant at Sam Houston.  Reinecker has been very successful at the high school level as a head coach.

Tennessee:  BasketballScoop has confirmed that Stephanie Glance (former N.C. State Associate head coach) has accepted a position working for Pat Summitt at Tennessee.  Glance’s role, titled “Special Assistant to the Head Coach”, will be fashioned as an administrative position.

Temple:  We hear that Temple has hired Willnet Crockett as an assistant and Jim Gillespie as Director of Basketball Operations.

Friday October 2, 2009 (Update 2)

Bowling Green:  BasketballScoop has confirmed that head coach Louis Orr has hired Dennis Hopson as an assistant.  Hopson has been coaching at Northwood University in FL for the past few seasons.

Penn St.:  Head Coach Jim DeChellis has signed an extension through the 2013-2014 season.

Grambling:  Robert Washington Jr. has been named interim head coach.  Washington was one of the assistants; however Washington will have to build an entire new staff as the other two assistants have both been let go.  The school has announced that Steve Portland and Phillip Stitt are both out, in addition to former head coach Rick Duckett.

Stony Brook: Head coach Steve Pikiell has announced the promotion of Jay Young to Associate head coach.  Young has been on staff for five seasons.

Wisconsin: Chris Blaken has resigned as girls coach from Melrose-Mindoro.

Connecticut:  Mike Veneziano has been promoted from JV to varsity boys coach at Berlin.

Akron, OH: North High has promoted JV coach Michael Williams to head boys coach.

Army:  Multiple sources are reporting that Zach Spiker, an assistant at Cornell for the past six seasons has agreed to a six year deal to become the new head coach at Army.  More on this to come…

Hartwick College:  Nick Nichay has been hired as an assistant at Hartwick.  Nichay spent the past three seasons as a team manager at Rutgers.

Wagner College (NY):  We hear that Wagner is looking for an assistant.

Nolan Richardson:  We hear that Coach Richardson has been hired to coach a WNBA team that does not yet exist.  Interesting.  We understand that if Tulsa is awarded an expansion team, then Richardson will be the coach.

Arizona St.:  With Army’s hiring of Zach Spiker, the ASU staff appears that it will remain intact for the first time in years.  Associate head coach Dedrique Taylor was a finalist for the job.  We understand that earlier this Summer, assistant Lamont Smith had talks with UW’s Lorenzo Romar; but chose to stay in Tempe.

Highland Community College (IL):  Head coach Pete Norman is stepping down as head coach (although he will remain AD) and has promoted his assistant Ronnie Dean to Interim head coach.  Dean is looking for a new assistant.

Northwestern:  BasketballScoop has learned that head coach Joe McKeown will be promoting Ali Jacquest to Associate head coach.  Jacques is entering her second season at Northwestern; but also spent two years working for coach McKeown at George Washington.

Tulsa - WNBA:  We hear that Nolan Richardson has been hired “in the event Tulsa is awarded an expansion team”.

Fall River, MA:  Durfee High School has selected Steven Motta to be the new boys coach.  Motta replaces Jeff Caron, who accepted the AD position at Dartmouth High.

Lancaster, OH:  Fisher Catholic has hired Todd Huffman as their new boys coach.  In September, then new head coach Matt Fisher suddenly resigned (without ever coaching a game) to accept a teaching position in a different school.  Huffman has over 10 years of collegiate coaching experience, although nearly all of it was on the girls side.

Moorpark College:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that head coach Remy McCarthy has hired Ryan Dodd as an assistant.  Dodd has previously served Cal St. Northridge’s DBO and has been a high school coach.

New Mexico St.:  Head coach Marvin Menzies has hired Ryan Mack as a Grad Assistant.  Mack is a recent grad from Miami Ohio where he spent the last four seasons as a student assistant.

Grand Rapids, MI:  West Catholic has hired Jimmy Karrip as their new boys coach.

Spring Hill, FL: Springstead has announced Steve Thompson as their new boys coach.  Thompson replaces Pat Kelly who resigned to accept the same position at Jensen Beach.

Southwest Minnesota St.:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that new Interim head coach Brad Bigler has brought Nate Kaeding back to the staff as an assistant.  Kaeding had served as a grad assistant the past two seasons for SMSU; but accepted an assistant position earlier this Summer at Montana State - Billings.  Bigler has convinced him to come back now that he can offer him a full time assistant position.

Fairleigh Dickinson:  Coach Vetrone has promoted Jeremy Fink to a full time assistant.  Fink managed film exchange and advance scouting last season for FDU.

Binghampton:  Jeff Goodman with FoxSports is reporting that head coach Kevin Broadus violated recruiting rules on Tuesday.  This statement won’t shock you; but things don’t appear to be going well for Coach Broadus and Binghampton’s team. Goodman’s story

Morrisville St.:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Joseph Smith has been selected as the new head coach at Morrisville St.  Smith has been playing overseas for the past few seasons.  This will be his first time as a head coach.

Binghampton:  Multiple news outlets are reporting that the University has self-reported (?) recruiting violations that were widely reported last week.  Head coach Kevin Broadus has been suspended from recruiting off-campus until November.  Seriously.?

Dunkirk, NY:  Dunkirk has named Jerome Moss boys head coach, replacing Rich Catalano.

Lehigh: Head coach Brett Reed has named Matt Logie Associate head coach.  Logie is entering his fifth season at Lehigh.

North Carolina Wesleyan:  Head coach John Thompson has hired his long time friend Mike Mosley as an assistant.  Mosley, who coached at the high school level for over 20 years, most recently served as head coach and AD at Nash Central.

Waterloo, IA:  East High’s new boys coach is Anthony Thomas.  Thomas replaces long time coach Steve McGraw.

Madison, CT:  Tim Tredwell has been named girls coach at Hand High.

Charleston, WV:  We hear that David Starr has been named boys coach at Riverside, replacing Duane Estep.

Bellarmine:  Scott Davenport, in his fifth season as head coach at Bellarmine, has added Carl White as an assistant.  White, who is replacing Mark Bugg who stepped down earlier this Summer, has been coaching at the high school level for the past few years.

Texas A&M Commerce:  BasketballScoop has learned that A&M Commerce has selected Nicole Anderson as their new head coach.  Anderson had been with Long Beach St. for the last six seasons as an assistant where she also held the title of Recruiting coordinator.

Bowling Green:  BasketballScoop would like to congratulate Jennifer Roos, Associate head coach at Bowling Green and one of our 2009 Rising Stars, on her recent extension through 2015.

Fort Valley St.:  Sources tell BasketballScoop to look for the announcement tomorrow of John Douglas being named the new head coach at FVSU.  Douglas has been the head coach at Lawton St. Community College for the last seven seasons.

Illinois:  Illinois’ coaching staff is flat out deep.  Bruce Weber recently named Wayne McClain Associate head coach.  Combined with the much talked about Jerrance Howard, and the understated; but well respected Jay Price, this staff is loaded.

Kentucky:  Kentucky has settled with former head coach Billy Gillispie for $2.984 million.

New Concord, OH:  John Glenn High School has hired Brian Fulks to be the girls coach.

Sultan, WA:  Sultan High’s new girls coach is Bill Woolley.  Woolley replaces Rodney Walker who accepted the same position at Monroe.

LA Tech:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Richard Williams, former Miss. St. head coach, is now working with Kerry Rupp at LA Tech.  We hear the position is Director of Basketball Administration and that he is doing this on a volunteer basis.

Wake Forest:  Dino Gaudio has received an extension through the 2013-2014 season.

Binghampton:  The University has put head coach Kevin Broadus on paid leave.  Hardly breaking news considering the events of the past few weeks.  Speculation is already heating up surrounding the next head coach at Binghampton.  The most logical name we have heard is King Rice, former UNC player and current assistant at Vandy.  Rice is a Binghampton native.  Current assistant Marc Macon, former star player at Temple, has been named interim head coach; however with all that has transpired, it’s seems hard to think that anyone from the current staff could be promoted on a full-time basis.

Haslett, MI:  Haslett High’s girls coach Tim Beebe has resigned.  No replacement has been named yet and the AD said they were examining all options.

Kronenwetter, WI: Rory McKellips has been named the girls coach at Wisconsin Valley Lutheran.  He had been the coach at Mosinee for the last 13 seasons and won the state championship in 2000.

Saint Vincent College:  Jeff Mallory, a four year starter for the Bearcats, is joining the staff as an assistant.  Mallory has been playing overseas for the past two seasons.

Northwood:  Rollie has hired one of his former players at Villanova, Dewayne McClain, as an assistant at Northwood.  McClain played professionally for 12 seasons and has been in the business world for the last several years.  This will be his first college coaching experience.

Franklin HS (NJ): Head coach Tim Ortelli has resigned before ever coaching one game at Franklin HS due to irreconcilible differences with the AD.

Samuel Fels HS (PA): Mark Heimerdinger, tied for second in Catholic League basketball history for most consecutive seasons coached at one school, yesterday resigned at Cardinal Dougherty High to accept the same position at Samuel Fels.

Rhodes HS (OH): Jonathan Harris has resigned as head men’s basketball coach. A new coach will be announced this week.

Kathleen HS (FL): Tony Longa, a former head coach at Florida Southern and athletic director at Lakeland High, was hired Wednesday as the Red Devils’ new men’s basketball coach. He replaces Drew Taylor, who requested a leave of absence Oct. 5 after nine seasons as head coach.

NY Institute of Technology:  New head coach Anthony Crocitto has hired Brittney Messina as an assistant.  Messina was a star high school player in the area and played two seasons at Seton Hall before an injury ended her playing career.  This will be the first coaching job for Messina who joins second year assistant Kerri Jetter on the staff.

University of the District of Columbia:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Terrell Stokes, a former Maryland PG, has accepted an assistant position under Jeff Ruland at UDC.

Colgate:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that JP Clark has been added to the staff as Director of Basketball Operations.  Clark was an assistant at Flagler last season and spent a short time at UCF.

Maui Invitational:  Dave Odom, former Wake Forest and South Carolina head coach, has been named the new Chairman of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.  Odom will replace Big East Commissioner Dave Gavitt.

Santa Clara:  We hear that Santa Clara is seeking applicants for an open Manager of Basketball Operations positions.

Eagle Lake, FL:  Lake Region High has hired Tyrhon Crawford as their new boys coach, replacing Jeff Cable who resigned last week to accept an assistant position at Kathleen High under new head coach Tony Longa.

Clarksville, TN:  Fort Campbell High School has named their football coach, Shawn Berner, their new boys coach as well.  Berner has won the last two state titles in football.

Tampa, FL:  Tampa Bay Tech has selected Reginald Lawrence to be their new girls coach.  Lawrence previously served as the JV coach.

Schoolcraft College (MI):  Two assistants and five players have been let go from the team with less than a week to go before the opener for the community college.  The school has announced that two assistants have both resigned following an “incident at a team practice”.  School officials have said that head coach Randy Henry was not present and is not facing disciplinary action.  According to the school, the incident “involved a physical confrontation among players”.

East Stroudsburg University:  Assistant Justin Potts has added the title of Acting Women’s Head Coach.  Potts will maintain his role with the men’s team while serving as the Acting Women’s coach until the university selects a permanent head coach.

East Stroudsburg University:  Men’s assistant Justin Potts has been named the acting head coach of the Women’s team.  Former head coach Juliene Simpson announced her resignation in late August.  Potts has been working with the team during the search for a permanent replacement and will continue his role with the Men’s team.

New Mexico St.:  A source sent us a note that NMSU head coach Darrin Spence has been sleeping in a tent all week on campus to raise awareness of his program with a goal of adding 100 season ticket holders.  100.  That’s something. Hope the weather is good Coach.

Cambridge, MA:  North Cambridge Catholic has selected Kevin Moore as it’s new boys coach.

Tulare, CA:  Mission Oak has announced that Chase Landers will become the new boys coach.

Jackson County, WI:  Joey Arneson has been selected to be the new girls coach at Melrose-Mindoro (Mel-Min).

Pequot Lakes, MN:  Bob Nelson has resigned as girls coach at Pequot Lakes.  The school is seeking applicants.
