UCLA: Tyus Edney has been named the director of operations.  Edney played in the NBA for four seasons and also played overseas for many years as well.

Central Florida: Veteran NBA assistant coach and scout Brendan Suhr has joined the UCF men’s basketball staff as the director of program development.  Suhr most recently was speaking and consulting as founder and president of Off the Court, Inc.

Nebraska: Tracy Webster has been hired as an assistant coach.  Webster comes from DePaul, where he was an assistant coach, and named interim head coach last season.

Navy:  We hear that former Duke PG Greg Paulus has accepted an assistant job at Navy.

Penn State-Fayette: Mark John has been named the new head coach.  John comes from Laurel Highlands High School, where he served as the assistant coach for the girl’s basketball team.

New Jersey City University: Interim head coach Marc Brown has been appointed the new head coach permanently.  Brown has been the interim head coach the past three seasons.

Voorhees College (SC): Michael Cheaney has been named the new head coach.  Cheaney was formerly an assistant coach at Livingston College (NC).

Plymouth State (NH): Damien Strahorn has been named the new head coach.  Strahorn comes from Columbia University, where he was an assistant the past four seasons.

Valparaiso: Steve Helm has been hired as an assistant coach.  Helm comes from Ancilla College (IN), where he was there for six seasons, five as the men’s head coach.

Memphis: Assistant coach Danielle O’Banion has been promoted to Associate Head Coach.  O’Banion has been an assistant coach at Memphis the past two seasons.

Central Florida: Head coach Joi Williams has announced the hiring of Richard Fortune as an assistant coach.  Fortune comes from working as an assistant coach with Boo Williams AAU in Hampton, VA since 2008.

Christopher Newport (VA): Shawn Postiglione has been hired as an assistant coach.  Postiglione comes from Wagner College (NY), where he was an assistant the past three seasons.

Fairleigh Dickinson: Marcus Toney-El has been hired as an assistant coach.  Toney-El has coached at various high school summer camps and was head coach of the Playaz AAU program after a four year playing career in Japan.

Oklahoma Baptist: Kyle Tolin has been promoted to associate head coach.  Tolin has been on the coaching staff for the past four seasons.

Northern Colorado: Logan Bean has been hired as Director of Basketball Operations.  Bean comes from Marquette, where he was the graduate manager the past two seasons.

Southern Wesleyan (SC): John Davis has been hired as the new head coach.  Davis comes from Wesley College, where he was an assistant for the past eight years, six on the men’s team and two on the women’s team.

Gannon University (PA): Head coach Cleve Wright has hired Meredith Baugher and Tiffany Crocker as assistant coaches.  Baugher comes from Youngstown State, where she was an assistant the past two seasons.  Crocker recently just graduated from Gannon this past spring.

Chico State (CA): Brian Fogel was named head coach.  Fogel was operating in an interim capacity for the past two seasons and the head assistant for a year prior to that at Chico State.

Quinnipiac: Head coach Tricia Fabbri has received a contract extension through the 2014-15 season.

Montana State: Head coach Tricia Binford has received a contract extension through mid-2013.  Binford is entering her sixth season as head coach.

Michigan State: Head coach Suzy Merchant has announced the hiring of David De La Pena as Coordiantor of Basketball Operations.  De La Pena comes from Lubbock Christian University, where he was the video coordinator and graduate assistant coach the past two seasons.

Eastern University (PA): Nate Davis has been named the new head coach.  Davis comes for the University of South Carolina Aiken, where he was an assistant on the men’s team the past five seasons.

Marshall: Michael Brown has been hired as director of basketball operation.  Brown comes from Dartmouth, where he was an assistant coach last season.

Montana State: Head coach Brad Huse has received a contract extension through mid-2013.  Huse is going into his fifth season as head coach.

Gardner-Webb: Takayo Siddle has been hired as an assistant coach.  Siddle comes from the Hargrave Military Academy (VA), where he was an assistant last season.

Carson-Newman College: Former University of Tennessee point guard Shane Williams has been hired as an assistant coach.

Boston College: Head coach Sylvia Crawley has received a two-year contract extension through the 2014-15 season.  Crawley has been the head coach for the Eagles the past two seasons.

Hilbert College (NY): Rob Peterson has been named the new head coach.  Peterson comes from the State University of New York at Geneseo, where he was an assistant the past two seasons.

St. Mary’s: Nick Wilson has been promoted to associate head coach.  Wilson has been on the staff as an assistant the past three seasons.

Mount St. Mary’s: Ahmad Dorsett and Mike Farrelly have been hired as assistant coaches.  Dorsett comes from Bowie State, where he was the top assistant coach last season.  Farrelly comes from spending the past three years as the Director of Hoop Group Elite.

Rhode Island: Head coach Cathy Inglese has announced that Eric Chapman and Kelly Morrone have been hired as assistant coaches.  Chapman comes from the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun, where he was an advanced scout since 2004.  Morrone comes from Davidson, where she was an assistant coach the past two seasons.

Florida A&M: Freddie Murray has been hired as an assistant coach.  Murray comes from North Carolina A&T State, where he was an assistant the past three seasons.

Portland State:  Sources tell BasketballScoop that Portland State plans to add Andy McClouskey as an assistant.  McClouskey served as an assistant at Boise State for the past few seasons.

Rock Valley College (IL.): Julian Springer has been named the new head coach, Springer was an assistant with the SWAC regular season champions Jackson State University.

Pearl River CC: Doug Branson has been hired as an assistant coach.  Branson comes from Columbus State University (GA), where he was the head coach since 2006.

SMU: Jerry Hobbie has been named assistant basketball coach.  Hobbie comes from Houston, where he was an assistant coach the past three seasons

Indiana Tech: Luke Hemenover has been hired as an assistant coach.  Hemenover comes from St. Edwards (TX), where he was a graduate assistant the past two seasons.

Austin Peay: David Midlick has been hired as an assistant coach.  Midlick is a former volunteer assistant on the men’s team.

Nyack College (NY): Josh Thompson has resigned as head coach.  Thompson had been the head coach since 2002.

Bluefield State College:  We hear J.J. Oliver has been named head coach.  Oliver had been an assistant and the recruiting coordinator at St. Augustine College (NC) since 2007.

Radford: Katrina Williams has been named the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations.  Williams comes from Averett University, where she was the head coach the past three seasons.

Florida Gulf Coast University: Head coach Karl Smesko has announced that Herman Burge will become the new assistant coach.  Burge comes from Mercer University, where he was an assistant the past two seasons.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee: Heather Morris has been hired as an assistant coach.  Morris comes from Lamar University, where she was an assistant last season.

Washington: Kari Duperron has been hired as an assistant coach.  Duperron comes from UNLV, where she was an assistant the past two seasons.

Knoxville College (TN): Dr. Kevin Butler has officially been named the new head coach to revive the men’s basketball program.  Dr. Butler comes from All-Star Basketball & Physical Education Academy, where he was the training director.

Covenant College (TN): Kyle Mendenhall has been hired as an assistant coach.  Mendenhall comes from Union College, where he was an assistant last season.

Columbia: Michael Murphy and Koby Altman will serve as assistant coaches this season.  Murphy was at Columbia the last two seasons under former head coach Joe Jones.  Altman comes from Southern Illinois, where he was an assistant coach last season.  

Lynchburg College (VA): Abby Pyzik has been hired as the new head coach.  Pyzik comes from Washington & Lee University, where she was an assistant the past two seasons.

South Carolina Aiken: Brett Longpre has been promoted to an assistant coach.  Longpre moves into the spot vacated by Nate Davis, who recently was appointed the head women’s basketball coach at Eastern University. Longpre is entering his third season on USC Aiken’s coaching staff.

Arkansas: Scotty Thurman has been hired as director of student-athlete development and Sean Dwyer has been hired as the video coordinator.  Thurman most recently was coaching middle-school level basketball and working in marketing for Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock.  Dwyer comes from Florida, where he was a graduate assistant and assistant video coordinator last season.

Prairie View A&M: Ansar Al-Ameen has been named an assistant coach.  Al-Ameen comes from Texas Southern, where he was on the staff the past two seasons.

Robert Morris: Mike Byrnes has been hired as an assistant coach.  Byrnes comes from Winchendon School, where he was the head coach the past fourteen seasons.

Augusta State: Nesha Smith has been hired to the coaching staff.  Smith is a 2009 graduate of Stetson, and is one of only three women’s players in Stetson history with 1,000 career points and 400 career assists.

Providence: Jonath Nicholas has been promoted to associate head coach.  Nicholas has been an assistant coach with the Friars the past two seasons.

Houston Baptist: Jud Kinne has been hired as an assistant coach.  Kinne comes from Central Arizona College, where he was the associate head coach the past three seasons.

Loyola University New Orleans: Lindsay Werntz and Denis Aidoo have been hired as assistant coaches. Werntz comes to Loyola after a head coaching stint at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas in 2007-08. Aidoo, a part time assistant, joins the Wolfpack after a 1-year stint as an assistant coach for the Slidell High School boys’ varsity basketball team.

Union College: Jerrod Stanford has been hired as an assistant coach.  Stanford comes from Spearville High School, where he was the head coach the past two seasons.

Centenary (LA): Head coach Bojan Jankovic has accepted an assistant coach position with Oral Roberts.  Jankovic was named the head coach in June, was the interim coach last season, and was an assistant for three years.

Fairleigh Dickinson: Head coach Peter Cinella has received a contract extension.  Cinella is going into his fourth season as head coach.

Oregon State: Eric Ely has been hired as an assistant coach.  Ely comes from Oral Roberts, where he was an assistant coach the past three seasons.

Texas Woman’s University: Michael Madrid has been hired as an assistant coach.  Madrid comes from Lubbock Christian University, where he was an assistant coach the past four seasons.

Eastern Kentucky: Austin Newton has been promoted to assistant coach and Ryan Wiersma has been hired as the director of basketball operations.  Newton was the basketball operations assistant at EKU the past two years.  Wiersma comes from Williams College, where he was an assistant last season.

Des Moines Area CC: Brooks McKowen has been hired as an assistant coach.  McKowen comes from Northern Iowa, where he was the video coordinator the past three seasons.

Lehigh: Head coach Brett Reed has hired Damion Jablonski as an assistant coach and T.J. Jordan as Director of Basketball Operations.  Jablonski comes from Oakland University, where he served in a variety of capacities over a three-year span.  Jordan comes from Susquehanna University (PA), where he was an assistant coach last season.

Newberry College (SC): Shawn McCullion has been hired as an assistant coach.  McCullion comes from Emerson College, where he was the associate head coach for the past ten seasons.

Florida: Murriel Page has been hired as an assistant coach to her alma mater.  Page has been playing professional basketball for 12 years, including an 11-year WNBA career.  

Warner University (FL): Kendall Heath has been promoted to head assistant coach.  Heath was a student assistant last season.

Mississippi State: A spokesman for Miss. State has confirmed that Meridian CC hoops coach George Brooks has been hired to join Rick Stansbury’s staff, pending IHL board of approval.

Chowan University (NC): Brandon Chaison has been hired as an assistant coach.  Chaison comes from most recently working with the Houston Independent School District as an associate teacher. Along with his teaching duties Chaison worked with the DGIB (Daniel Gibson) AAU Hoops program in Houston.

Northeastern: Pat Duquette has been named associate head coach.  Duquette comes from Boston College, where he was on the staff since 1997 and was the associate head coach last season.

SUNYIT: The SUNYIT Athletics Department has appointed Jon Snyder as the new part-time assistant men’s basketball coach.  Snyder has been the head boys’ basketball coach for Holland Patent High School for the past six seasons.

Saint Mary’s: Rick Croy has been hired as an assistant coach.  Croy comes from Citrus College, where he was their for the past six seasons.

College of Charleston: Jonathan Cremins has been hired as director of basketball operations.  Cremins previously served as a varsity assistant coach and teacher during the 2009-10 school year at South Forsyth High School in Cumming, GA.

Dartmouth: Joe Gallo has been named an assistant coach.  Gallo comes from Hoop Group Elite, where he was the assistant director last year.

Georgia Southern: Amy Krach has been hired as an assistant coach.  Krach comes from Northgate High School, where she was an assistant last season. 

Clarkson University: Emily Cummings has been hired as an assistant coach.  Cummings graduated from Connecticut College last spring.

Eastern Kentucky: Allie Turley has been hired as Director of Basketball Operations.  Turley comes from Brandon High School (FL), where he was the head boys’ basketball coach the past two seasons.

Bluefield State: J.J. Oliver has been named the new head coach.  Oliver comes from St. Augustine College, where he was an assistant coach.

UMass Lowell: Courtney Schermerhorn has been named a new assistant coach.  Schermerhorn recently capped a four-year career at Bryant, over which the University was in its final two years of Division II and the Northeast-10 Conference and first years in Division I.

Auburn: Carla McGhee has been hired as an assistant coach.  McGhee comes from South Carolina, where she was an assistant the past two years.

Rider University: Ben Luber has been promoted to an assistant coach.  Luber was the Director of Basketball Operations for Rider last season.

Bluefield State: Jimmy Voight has been hired as the new head coach.  Voight comes from Louisiana-Monroe, where he served as the associate head coach.

Canada College (CA): Jon Ramirez has been hired as an assistant coach.  Ramirez comes from Saint Mary’s, where he was a graduate manager the past two years.

VCU: Head coach Shaka Smart has received a two year contract extension.  Smart is going into his second season as head coach.

Centenary (LA): Kristen Davis has been named the new head coach.  Davis was an assistant at Centenary the past two seasons.

Cal State L.A.: Leora Juster has been hired as an assistant coach.  Juster was a graduate assistant at Mercer in the 2007-08 season.

Middle Tennessee: Head coach Rick Insell has named Mariska Harris as the director of basketball operations.  Harris most recently was the head coach at Independence High School.

Hamilton College: Melissia Patterson has been named the new head coach.  Patterson comes from the University at Albany, where she was the top assistant the past four seasons.

Kentucky: Kyra Elzy has been promoted to associate head coach.  Elzy has been an assistant coach at Kentucky the past two seasons.

Iowa State: Lefty Moore is joining the program as a student coach, 30 years after putting pursuit of his college diploma on hold.  Moore played for Iowa State coaches Lynn Nance and Johnny Orr in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Duquesne: Head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio has announced the hiring of Lindsay Richards as an assistant coach.  Richards is a former player at Iowa comes to Duquesne after three years working for Weber Shandwick as a senior account executive in its Chicago-based office.

Gardner Webb: Brooke Wilkinson has been announced as an assistant coach.  Wilkinson comes from Mars Hill College, where she was an assistant the last two seasons.

California Baptist: Jeff Caha has been hired as a new assistant coach.  Caha comes from Southern Nazarene University (OK), where he was an assistant coach last season.

Cal Poly Pomona: Danelle Bishop has been named the interim head coach.  Bishop comes from California Baptist, where she was the head coach the past three seasons.

Truman State: Lora Westling has been announced as an assistant coach.  Westling comes from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where she was the top assistant the past three seasons.

Illinois-Chicago: Howard Moore has been announced as the new head coach.  Moore comes from Wisconsin, where he was an assistant coach the past five seasons.

Maryland: Chris Campbell has been hired as the new Director of Operations.  Campbell comes from the University of Delaware, where he was an assistant the past two seasons.

Manhattan College: Sonia Burke has been promoted to Associate Head Coach.  Burke is entering her eighth season at Manhattan.

Illinois Central College: A.J. Guyton has been hired as an assistant coach.  Guyton played in the NBA for three seasons with the Bulls and Warriors.

Bethany College (WV): Adam May has been hired as an assistant coach.  May comes from Holy Cross, where he finished his playing career this past season.

Penn State Altoona: Chad Carlson and Glenn Sekunda have been added to the staff.  Carlson is also an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at Penn State Altoona, and worked at Hope College for three seasons as an assistant.  Sekunda has been a coach and the director of the PA Slam, a boys AAU basketball program located in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania. This past July, he coached with the New York Knicks in the NBA Summer League held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Auburn University at Montgomery: Jack Waters has been hired as an assistant coach.  Waters comes from Tucker High School in Atlanta, where he was the head coach at the high school and middle school level for 18 years.

St. Augustine’s College (NC): Ken Spencer has been hired as the new head coach.  Spencer comes from Winston-Salem State, where he was an assistant the past four seasons.

New Mexico State: Head coach Marvin Menzies has hired Tom Lewis as the team’s new coordinator of player development.  Lewis comes from Cal State Los Angeles, where he was an assistant last season.

UMass Lowell: Marc Kuntz has been promoted to Associate Head Coach.  Kuntz has been on the staff at UMass Lowell for the past five years.

Iowa State: Jeff Grayer is leaving the administrative role with the Iowa State program and move back to Michigan so he could be close to his family.

Illinois-Chicago: Donnie Kirksey has been hired as an assistant coach.  Kirksey comes from Hyde Park, where he was the head coach the past three seasons.

SMU: Head coach Matt Doherty has announced the hiring of Larry Mangino as an assistant coach.  Mangino comes from the Denver Nuggets, where he was the development coach the past two years.

Wisconsin-Superior: Rick Karius has been named an assistant coach.  Karius comes from Southwest Minnesota State, where he was an assistant last season.

Mid-Continent University (KY): Charlotte Snowden has been hired as the new head coach.  Snowden recently returned to the United States after spending the 2009-10 school year teaching elementary and secondary school physical education, elementary school character training and Bible and secondary school health, and coaching secondary school girls’ soccer and basketball for Jerusalem Schools in Jerusalem, Israel.

Pacific: Davin Johnson has been hired as an assistant coach.  Johnson has spent the last nine years coaching with the NorCal Elite Basketball Club, one of the top Amateur Athletic Union programs in the nation.

Auburn: Kerry Cremeans has been promoted to associate head coach.  Cremeans is entering her seventh year at Auburn.

Arizona: Danny Peters has been hired as a graduate assistant and Jeff Feld has been promoted to assistant of basketball operations.  Peters is a former player and manager at Ohio State.  Feld served as manager and video coordinator since 2006.

Iowa: Head coach Fran McCaffery has finally signed his contract.  The six-year, $7.175 million contract starts with a base salary of $650,000 in 2010. Outside income totaling $450,000 annually — coming from public appearances, television and radio programming, as well as a Nike apparel and shoe contract — brings McCaffery’s guaranteed compensation to $1.1 million this year.

Naval Academy Prep School (Newport, RI):  Seeks a women’s basketball head coach for the year 2010-11.  The dates of the position are 01 October 2010 to 01 March 2011.  It is a ‘part-time’ position.  N.A.P.S. is a preparatory school for the United States Naval Academy.  Please forward resume to brouse@naps.edu.

Concordia College: Brian Sondey has been named an assistant coach.  Sondey comes from the College of Westchester, where he was the head coach of the club team.

Morehead State: Wade O’Connor has been hired as an assistant coach.  O’Connor comes from Western Carolina, where he was an assistant the past two seasons.

Arkansas State: Former Mississippi State basketball coach Richard Williams has been hired as an assistant at Arkansas State.  Williams took the Bulldogs to the 1996 Final Four.  Issac Brown has been named associate head coach as well.

Navy: Eugene Burroughs and Jason Crafton have been promoted to associate head coaches.  Burroughs is entering his seventh year, and Crafton is entering his sixth year at Navy.

Meridian CC: Jeff Walker has been named the new head coach.  Walker comes from Indiana Tech, where he was the Athletic Director since 2009.

Averett University: Larry Epperly has been hired as the new head coach.  Epperly comes from East Carolina, where he was an assistant coach.

Cornell: Ryan Patrick Woerner has been hired as an assistant coach.  Woerner is a recent graduate at Ithaca and was a coaching intern last season and is now one of the youngest coaches in the country at only age 21.

Illinois-Chicago: Head coach Howard Moore has finalized his coaching staff with the hires of Al Biancalana and Michael Mennenga as assistant coaches.  Biancalana comes from York High School (IL), where he was the head coach since 2005.  Mennenga was last at Providence in 2009 as the team’s coordinator of player development and video operations.
