Finalist - 2009 Coaches of the Year powered by Critical Reload
Coach Wardle recently completed his fourth year with the program. As the top assistant on Tod Kawalkczyk’s staff, he helped the 2008-09 Phoenix to a 22-11 record, its most wins since the 1995-96 campaign, and a second-place finish in the Horizon League standings. In addition, the team earned a berth in the College Basketball Invitational, its first postseason appearance since 1996.
During his four-year tenure, the Phoenix have tallied 70 victories, an average of 17.5 wins per season. Green Bay is one of just 18 schools nationally that has finished in the top four of its league each of the past six seasons.
Wardle joined the Phoenix in June 2005 after two years as director of basketball operations at Marquette under Tom Crean, who is now the head coach at Indiana. Wardle also had a successful playing career at Marquette, as he captured All-Conference USA honors as a senior. He ranks among the school’s all-time top five in scoring with 1,690 career points.
